Leondar Learning Commons
The learning commons on the first floor is a non-quiet work space. Technology in the learning commons includes public computers, a laserjet printer, a color printer, and a scanner. Tables and chairs can be arranged for individual or group work.
Computer Lab
The computer lab on the first floor (opposite the library's front desk) has sixteen public computers and a laserjet printer. This room is occasionally used for classes (see the online schedule for times when the room is not available).
24-Hour Study Room
The 24-hour study room room on the ground floor of the library is open all night when classes are in session. The room has twelve public computers and wireless Internet access for personal laptops (library laptops may be checked out during the hours that the library is open). Vending machines and restrooms are accessible. When the library is closed, the room is accessible through an entrance on Park Street and requires an access code. Group Study Rooms
Four group study rooms are located on the second floor. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each room has a table and six chairs. Laptops may be checked out at the front desk.
Presentation Practice Room
The Seminar Room (106) on the first floor is available for practicing presentations. It's equipped with an LCD screen and laptops may be checked out at the front desk. For room availability, please see the online schedule.
Meeting Rooms
Herrick has three meeting rooms that can be reserved by Alfred faculty and staff. When the rooms are not reserved, they are available for student use. For room availability, please see the online schedule.
ITS Digital Media Center
Alfred's Information Technology Services (ITS) created the Digital Media Center to support the production of podcasts, vodcasts and other rich media formats. Located on the ground floor of Herrick, near the ITS Helpdesk, the Digital Media Center has video cameras, microphones, lighting equipment, and media production workstations. All of these resources are located in a functional studio complete with green wall. The center is fully supported by ITS staff.
Recycling
Herrick library has an active recycling program. Please look for recycling containers for paper, metal, glass, and plastic.ITS Helpdesk
